Independent Educational Psychology Consultancy We work with children and young people, aged 0 - 25, their families and schools/colleges to make positive changes to their education and wellbeing. Our referrals come from both parents/carers and schools where there may be a concern about a child's progress, special educational needs, their level of confidence, social issues, behaviour and so on. A typical client assignment may involve a detailed discussion with the person making the referral (the educational establishment, parent/carer or perhaps the young person themselves, if aged over 16), possibly classroom-based observations, a 1:1 session with the young person to explore their views, concerns and skills, an interview with their parent(s)/carer(s) and the production of a detailed report with clear, pragmatic recommendations. Sometimes, we see the young person for 1:1 sessions following an assessment, depending on the issue and the agreed way forwards. Valuing Minds also offers services to schools and colleges, which might include regular sessions focusing on concerns about individual pupils, school-wide initiatives, or in-service training workshops for staff. If you have a concern about a child and just want to chat things through, give us a call for a no-obligation discussion.
